Porcelain
Veneers
A porcelain veneer is a thin ‘slipper’ of
porcelain that is durable and has similar colour and texture
to natural tooth enamel, but does not decay
and resists staining. They are a permanent option to close gaps between teeth,
repair damaged, discoloured or misshapen teeth, and provide a beautiful, natural
looking "face-lift" to one or several teeth.
Porcelain veneers can normally be done in 2-3
visits, under local anaesthetic. The front
of the tooth is prepared to create a good surface to adhere the
veneer to, and temporary veneers are placed until the final ones
are complete. A master ceramist fabricates the veneers based
on models that Dr. Kochman creates, and once the final veneers
are finished Dr. Kochman tests them to ensure the patient is
satisfied. Changes can be made to the shape and colour at this
point, if necessary. The veneers are then permanently cemented
into place.
